Sinus Venosus ASD
2004: A 65 year old man, with an Atrial Septal Defect repaired surgically 15 years prior, was found to have an additional sinus venosus defect. The sinus venosus defect is close to the roof of the atrium and is considered inappropriate for device closure (lack of healthy tissue surrounding acting as a rim). It was repaired successfully by a Transcatheter Patch which does not require a rim for safe placement. The patient is doing well on follow-up.
