Ostium Primum ASD
2007: A 21 year old patient from Brazil, had an ostium primum atrial septal defect , despite previous surgery. The ostium primum defect is very close to the mitral valve and is not appropriate for wire device closure. The metallic structure of these devices can easily damage the valve. The defect was repaired safely and effectively by a Transcatheter Patch, due to unique design. The patient went home the next day and he was pleased to have avoided an additional surgery.
